Politician and former police officer accused of faking his CV
Another reminder of how important screening is. A politician and former police officer is accused of faking his CV. The deception seems fairly extreme and includes the creation of a career he seems never to have had:
A police officer turned politician accused of fabricating a past career as a war crimes investigator has faced a Perth court charged with faking his CV as far back as 2001.
Barry Urban, who was elected to the West Australian parliament when Labor swept to power in a landslide in March last year, stood in the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday as magistrate Joe Randazzo read out 12 fraud charges including that he falsified his policing qualifications in 2001, the year he first tried to enter the WA Police Force after arriving in Australia from Britain.
